Teaching Jobs in Bahrain

one chooses to work as a teacher in Bahrain, a few things have to be kept in mind. Bahrain is a conservative Arabic country. It does not allow expatriates to become permanent residents. The country is looking at making its own population self-sufficient. Currently, it is developmental stage thus it requires the services of expatriates.

Bahrain, the smallest of the Gulf States offers amazing job opportunities in various fields, teaching being one of them. There are good career opportunities for teachers, especially for teaching English. The demand for English teachers in Bahrain is quite high. The reason is that it is the preferred language of communication between locals and the expatriate population living here. Also, English is the most preferred language in hotels, at airports and other businesses that involve services. The natives in Bahrain are not fluent in English so there is a need to train them. This accounts for the huge demand of English teachers in Bahrain.
The national curriculum in schools has it mandatory that English be taught as a second language. However, since there are no native English speakers, the demand for expatriates to teach English in Bahrain is there. Due to cultural differences, the state education system is unable to employ native English speakers and employs foreigners in the position of English teachers. For this purpose, teaching jobs are advertised through various platforms such as newspapers, web sites and other publications.
In Bahrain, there are many private schools where mostly the children of expatriate population study. These schools use English as a medium to teach all subjects. Thus, English teachers are absorbed here in good numbers. Also, there are a few French schools where the medium of instruction is French but in these schools too, English is taught as a subject. So, these schools also require good English teachers.
Apart from schools, English teachers are required in private language schools. These schools cater to the local Bahrain population that wants to get trained in English for obvious reasons. These also cater to the non-English speaking expatriate population that wants to polish its command over the language. Talented English teachers are needed in these schools as well. However, in these schools the hours of working can be long and one cannot expect to get only morning shifts in these jobs. These schools cater to people who are already working so they need to be taught in the evenings after their working day. Sometimes, these training schools require teachers to attend their own training courses. This is required to train the teachers in the particular training methods that the schools adhere to.
Then, one can also look to give private English tuitions in Bahrain. This is a lucrative option and a significant source of employment in gulf. some teachers opt for this as a part-time work in the free hours apart from their regular work. This helps one earn a little extra from the regular income. The demand for such tutors is not always high but it rises in the examination season. People hire part time English tutors to help them prepare for exams. There is another surge in demand for English tutors when the results are declared. Those who fail and need to improve go to these tutors before reappearing for their paper. Advertisements for such tutors are generally published in newspapers.
In Bahrain, the British Council also recruits English language teachers for its centers here. To get a job in the British Council, one requires a recognized qualification, such as an RSA diploma or PGCE in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). Another requisite is a minimum of two years'' teaching experience. English teachers are also hired as translators and interpreters in Bahrain. The demand of translators is particularly high in for legal and contractual documentation and technical papers while interpreters are mostly required at seminars and on management training courses. These types of jobs are generally part-time or on a short-term basis.
If one chooses to work as a teacher in Bahrain, a few things have to be kept in mind. Bahrain is a conservative Arabic country. It does not allow expatriates to become permanent residents. The country is looking at making its own population self-sufficient. Currently, it is developmental stage thus it requires the services of expatriates. Expatriates are generally treated well and paid handsomely and at the end of their tenure are rewarded for their services. The laws of the country are very strict and the lifestyle conservative. However, if one stays at the right side of the law, there should not be much trouble.
The country does not permit homosexuality or live-in relationships. Be very careful while dealing with women. The culture here does not encourage mingling between men and women. So, be very sure before moving to Bahrain. It is advisable o consult one''s foreign office before taking up any job in Bahrain. The laws regarding work permit are also strict. One needs to have a local sponsor in Bahrain to get the permission to work here. The employer is generally the sponsor who gets the formalities done. If one is going through an agent, then the agent looks after such formalities. However, it is always better to go through a reliable sponsor to avoid and legal problems later on.
The best part about working in Bahrain is the amount of money that one can earn here. There are no taxes to be paid so one can enjoy all the extra money at disposal.

Teachers are instrumental in imparting knowledge and wisdom to the student. They coach the student in the respective subject utilizing effective teaching techniques. The teaching job role changes with various stages of education

Preschool, kindergarten, and elementary school teachers have a crucial role in the progress of children. Preschool, kindergarten, and elementary school teachers introduce children to mathematics, language, science and social sciences. They use games, books, music, computers, artwork, films and other tools to teach fundamental skills. Preschool teachers use storytelling, rhyming games, and acting games to teach children language and vocabulary.

They develop social skills in children and teach them mathematical concepts. Play and hands-on teaching are the main teaching tools adopted by kindergarten teachers. Recognition of alphabets, phonics, numbers, and knowledge about nature and science is taught at the preschool, kindergarten, and elementary school level.

Elementary school teachers teach various subjects to children of the same class. In few schools, more than two teachers are employed to coach a group of students. In few other schools, a teacher might teach one special subject like music, art, reading, science, arithmetic, or physical education to various classes.

Middle school teachers and secondary school teachers guide students and provide them in-depth knowledge of subjects. Middle and secondary school teachers hold a specialization in a particular subject like English, mathematics, French, history, or biology. Few teachers teach career oriented subjects. E.g. auto repair, healthcare, business, communications and, technology.

Apart from studies, teachers are responsible for the overall development of a child. Teachers have to guide them in extra curricular activities, sports, games and various other activities.

The Academic Tenure System

Academic tenure is a type of job security offered to professors in Canada and the United States. Once a professor achieves tenure, they cannot be removed from their position without a lot of time and effort on the part of their employer. Tenure is intended to protect academics from undue outside influence and encourage exploration of politically sensitive topics. Some critics of the tenure system say that it is ineffective and does not accomplish what it sets out to do.

An instructor that has attained tenure cannot be easily removed from their position. They remain on staff as an instructor, usually with a title such as Associate Professor or Professor, for the rest of their life or until they choose to retire. Universities that grant tenure do so because the cost of keeping a competent professor is much lower than that of constantly attracting new scholars year after year.

Tenure is popular mainly in the United States and Canada. There is a different system called habilitation that exists in many parts of Asia and Europe. Habilitation is the highest attainable academic rank after PhD, and in several countries habilitation is required in order to supervise doctoral candidates or to be a professor in certain fields.

Tenure is mainly associated with colleges and universities, though in tenured positions do exist in certain elementary and secondary schools. To qualify for tenure at the collegiate level, a professor must be working in a job that is designated as being ‘tenure-track,’ or leading to tenure. After a number of years in that position, a tenure committee evaluates the professor’s performance to date.

Several factors are taken into account by the committee. Teaching effectiveness, research accomplishments, and service to other professors are all areas that are examined. Offering what amounts to lifetime job security can be a costly mistake for a university if the wrong faculty member is chosen, so tenure committees tend to be very thorough.

Proponents of the tenure system say that in addition to the financial benefit that exists from retaining talent, a professor is free to explore whatever topic they deem necessary without fear of external influence. There are, of course, limits to what a tenured professor can do in the classroom, but generally they have a free hand. A professor can take an unpopular view and explore it to its natural conclusion via lecture and research in order to see if the idea has merit. When a professor has tenure, they are also free to mentor younger instructors without fear that the information they impart will allow the junior professor to take their job.

Critics counter that the tenure system is broken. Rather than allowing a professor to explore any idea they wish, the tendency is to maintain the status quo and avoid rocking the boat. If a professor has to conform to a certain idea in order to gain respect for his work, he will be more likely to cling to that idea after gaining tenure. By the same token, a professor pursuing an unpopular idea may never be granted tenure at all. A tenured professor is also less likely to instruct a younger professor because there is no longer any incentive to be helpful.

While the system does have problems and is declining in popularity, a tenured spot is still the position to which many professors aspire. The job security and academic freedom are very nice perks, and in spite of the flaws it does not appear that this system will disappear any time soon.

Teaching English to Koreans online

We already know how English-crazy Koreans are and we’re also aware that Filipinos can’t teach legally in Korea. We also know that hundreds of thousands of Koreans travel to the Philippines every year to immerse themselves in English. In fact, I met my husband while he was trying to do the same.
While Filipinos can’t still come to Korea and teach English legally (F-2-1 visa holders are allowed to hold jobs but the immigration still forbids Philippine passport holders to teach English although some private schools are oblivious to this), they can always teach Koreans from the comfort of their homes through online teaching.
I’ve been asked several times by Filipino English teachers to help them find students for their online teaching. There’s a website popular among Korean students and Filipino teachers alike. It’s called ONTUE and it’s where teachers and students meet. I browsed through the job offers and I’d just say that the students are getting a bargain since private tutoring in Korea starts at 25,000 won an hour.
There is a list of teachers with videos and recorded messages. I think the site could be a good source to earn extra income for some just like a home business. Not for me, though I’m still trying to get a part-time job since I quit my hagwon job last week.

Teaching Online Journalism: How to Build the First College-Level Course

Educators confront tough decisions on how much scarce time in a semester should be spent on teaching software tools vs. teaching reporting and writing. But first, one has to define what online journalism is -- and what makes it unique.
By Mindy McAdamsPosted: 2004-04-12
You may feel excitement or dread -- or a combination of the two -- if you have been charged with creating a new course about online journalism. It's a tall order, and as you try to decide what to include in the course, you're likely to wish you had at least three semesters in which to cover everything.
Related Stories on OJR

This article assumes that you must fit it all into one semester (possibly even a 10-week quarter) and that this course will offer students in your program their sole opportunity to learn about online journalism. Yikes! Where should you begin?
First, ask some basic questions:
• Will the students produce an online publication as part of the course?
• Will the course include some lab time, no lab time, or will it be taught entirely in a computer lab?
• Are there journalism prerequisites, such as a reporting course?
• Are there computer science prerequisites, such as a basic Internet course?
The answers will help you figure out how much of the course can or should be devoted to skills, such as basic HTML, Dreamweaver and Photoshop. If the course will be a large lecture with only one hour a week in breakout lab sessions taught by grad students, you probably cannot produce an online magazine. If the primary goal of the course is to produce an online journalism site, you might spend the first half of the semester teaching skills and the second half on reporting and writing.
After you have determined how much of the course, or how much of each class meeting, will be devoted to instruction in producing online journalism, you will know how much time is available for lecture and assignments about practicing online journalism.

Teaching Your Puppy To Lead With The Her Collar

Walking on a collar and lead is an important skill that every dog must learn. Even the best trained dog should never be taken outside the home or yard without a sturdy collar and leash. Even if your dog is trained perfectly to go off lead, accidents and distractions do happen, and a collar, with proper identification attached, is the best way to be sure you will get your beloved companion back.
Of course before you can teach your new puppy to accept a leash, he or she must first learn to accept wearing a collar. The first step is to choose a collar that fits the dog properly. It is important to measure the puppy’s neck, and to choose a collar size accordingly.
After the collar has been put on the puppy, simply let him or her get used to it. It is not unusual for a puppy to try to pull on the collar, whine, roll or squirm when first introduced to a collar.
The best strategy is to simply ignore the puppy and let him or her get used to the collar. It is a mistake to either punish the dog for playing with the collar or to encourage the behavior. Distracting the puppy often helps, and playing with a favorite toy, or eating some favorite treats, can help the puppy quickly forget that he or she is wearing this strange piece of equipment.
After the dog has learned to accept the collar, try adding the leash. Hook the leash to the collar and simply sit and watch the puppy. Obviously, this should only be done either in the house or in a confined outdoor area. The puppy should be allowed to drag the leash around on its own, but of course the owner should keep a close eye on the puppy to ensure that the leash does not become snagged or hung up on anything.
At first, the leash should only be left on for a few minutes at a time. It is a good idea to attach the leash at mealtimes, playtime and other positive times in the life of the puppy.
That way the puppy will begin to associate the leash with good things and look forward to it. If the puppy shows a high degree of fear of the leash, it is a good idea to place it next to the food bowl for awhile to let him get used to it slowly. Eventually, he will come to understand that the leash is nothing to be afraid of.
After the puppy is comfortable with walking around the house wearing the leash, it is time for you to pick up the end of the leash for a few minutes. You should not try to walk the puppy on the leash; simply hold the end of the leash and follow the puppy around as he or she walks around. You should try to avoid situations where the leash becomes taut, and any pulling or straining on the leash should be avoided. It is fine for the puppy to sit down. Try a few games with the collar and lead.

For instance, back up and encourage the puppy to walk toward you. Don’t drag the puppy forward, simply encourage him to come to you. If he does, praise him profusely and reward him with a food treat or toy. You should always strive to make all the time spent on the leash as pleasant as possible.
It is important to give the puppy plenty of practice in getting used to walking on the leash in the home. It is best to do plenty of work in the home, since it is a safe environment with few distractions. After the puppy is comfortable walking indoors on a leash, it is time to start going outside, beginning of course in a small, enclosed area like a fenced yard.
After the puppy has mastered walking calmly outdoors on a leash, it is time to visit some places where there are more distractions. You may want to start with a place like a neighbor’s yard. Walking your new puppy around the neighborhood is a good way to introduce your neighbors to the new puppy, while giving the puppy valuable experience in avoiding distractions and focusing on his leash training.
Puppies sometimes develop bad habits with their leashes, such as biting or chewing on the leash. To discourage this type of behavior, try applying a little bit of bitter apple, Tabasco sauce or similar substance (just make sure the substance you use is not toxic to dogs). This strategy usually convinces puppies that chewing the leash is a bad idea.

Education Information for New and Future Teachers

Your first interview for a teaching position is scheduled. More than likely, you're a little scared, but you've been looking forward to this for a long time and the big day is here at last! The payoff for all your hard work in college is finally in sight. It's what you have been anticipating for weeks, and yet you're tense, and perhaps even apprehensive. You've heard from fellow classmates and friends that the first job interview for a teaching position can often be a stressful experience, made even more so when teaching jobs are scarce, especially in tough economic times. Teachers who have been there and done that will generally tell you that being as perfectly prepared as possible beforehand is the best policy. With that in mind, and given that you should get at least six hours of sleep the night before the interview, the following suggestions are offered:
1. Dress. Dress appropriately. Your choice of clothing tells a lot about you, and as they say, you don't get a second chance to make a good first impression. Women should dress tastefully. That means no shorts, halters, cutoffs, miniskirts, etc. You want to look professional. If you have visible body parts other than your ears that are pierced, remove the objects before the interview. Also, if you have tattoos, do your best to cover them with appropriate clothing. Men should wear a nice pair of pants, and shirt and tie. Polished shoes are a good idea and say a lot about you. Don't wear sneakers and be careful about jeans. The body piercing and tattoo advice goes for the men also.
2. Speech. Many times interviews that are otherwise excellent crash and burn because the interviewees mispronounce words, speak much too fast, and use expressions such as "like" as a form of punctuation. A big mispronunciation problem involves words that begin with "pre" or "pro." They are often pronounced as if they began with "per." For example, "prescribe" is pronounced "PREscribe" not "PERscribe." If you have this problem, work on it. As for like, well, like don't use it as a form of punctuation!
3. Portfolio. Document any work you've done with children, or in teaching, even if it's not a similar population or age range. Make sure the portfolio is not overly complicated. That means it's easy to read and understand. Organization is everything. Also, make sure you have carefully checked all spelling and grammar. An alternative is to bring an "electronic portfolio" such as a flash drive, CD, or DVD with you and let the interviewer know it is available. There are also many on-line resources that allow people to post resumes, vitas, or portfolios.4. Technology. Bring appropriate samples of your technology skills - graphics design, presentation software, word processing, etc. Let the interviewer know you have them, and do not offer to show them unless asked to do so. Flash drives make it possible to bring a lot of material with you in digital form in a case no larger than a pack of gum.5. Territory. Know the setting you're going to. In many districts, each school has a model, and it is very important to show understanding of the model. Usually, this type of information is available on the district or school web site. Make sure that you don't go into a "back to basics-type" school spouting everything you heard in college about whole language. If you can, do research on the instructional setting, principles, and goals of the school. In other words, "do your homework!"
6. Money. Don't be stupid. Remember, the principal or other interviewer does not negotiate salary, benefits, etc. Don't even mention them in the interview. If you do, the interviewer may "write you off." This is especially true in the current (2009) economic situation, where many school systems are cutting back and/or not hiring at all.7. Philosophy. Have defined, and be able to defend your philosophy of education. Too often, education majors memorize buzz words, clichés, and so-called wise sayings they picked up in their programs. Any experienced administrator will see through this in a heartbeat. Know what you believe and why you believe as you do. If you're unsure, practice out loud and have someone give you feedback. However, if not asked by the interviewer, it's usually a good idea not to offer it up for scrutiny.8. Mastery. Be as current as possible on educational books and research, especially if you have an area of specialization. You should be able to explain in clear, unambiguous language why the content you would teach is important. You also have to convey a sense of mastery of the content, regardless of the level at which you are seeking a position.9. Management. Have a discipline/classroom management system ready when you come in for the interview. Know how it works, be able to explain it, why you've chosen it, and why you think it will be effective. If, for example, you believe in assertive discipline, be able to articulate why you believe it results in desirable outcomes.
10. Odds and Ends. Most principals look for teachers they believe will be effective in the classroom AND be good team players. You must communicate to the interviewer that you can be both. The last thing a principal wants is a new teacher who will cause him headaches, need constant reassurance, take up his valuable time solving trivial problems, or who has poor parent relation skills. In your interview, you must communicate to the principal that you will not cause him headaches, need constant reassurance, etc. It is a temperament thing, so learn how to read people, speak clearly and directly, don't be afraid to look the principal in the eyes, ask relevant questions, and thank him for the opportunity to be interviewed.
And one last thing: if your interview is in the morning, be sure to have at least a small breakfast not less than 90 minutes before the interview. Take it from one who knows; your brain will work better.
Good luck with your interview, and may your career as a teacher be truly rewarding and fulfilling.

Are Online University Teaching Jobs in Your Future?

Typical university teaching jobs require a Masters or Ph.D in a specialized subject, paired with years of research and experience in teaching. This has not changed with the switch to online education, but online universities have made the teaching process much easier than in recent years.
The New York Times recently interviewed several professors of online classes, many of them who simply wake up and sit at their breakfast table to post online assignments for their students. This seems like a dream job for many of us who have to report to work at 9 and get out at 5; the flexibility of working from home seems almost unreal and something many younger workers strive to earn. However, working from home is not everything its cracked up to be, and many times distractions from home keep you from doing the work you are assigned. However, for many online university teachers, the joys of working from home are much different and they are better trained to ignore any outside distractions.
Online university teaching jobs are attractive to many seasoned professors who have younger children. This allows many of them to spend time with their children at home while still teaching class via online university degree programs. The new stay at home mom no longer has to give up her career aspirations but can instead choose a different route to a new career goal. Online university professors additionally have the flexibility of being more available to their students than traditional university professors. Typically, students have to hunt down their professors for an answer to a simply question; however, online professors are seemingly connected to their internet life and are available at an email’s notice for a follow-up question.
While online university teaching jobs may seem unsubstantial for many traditional professors, their easy accessibility for any lifestyle has made it an attractive choice both for stay at home moms or older professors who do not want the commute to school anymore. The teaching process is also difficult for many professors who are used to their face to face interactions with students, but this is easily overcome after a few months in the online education sector. Studies have even indicated that the lack of interaction has led to a newfound independence in students, rather than relying on fellow students or the crutch of professors. Whether or not this job is for you is a different matter, as many educators still enjoy the traditional teaching methods. However, for an up and coming education process, the online community seems set to overtake the education industry in the coming years and online teachers are at the forefront of it all.

Welcome to Teach English Worldwide

Teach English Worldwide strives to provide clear, comprehensive, and objective advice to anyone interested in teaching English overseas.

English is currently the most popular “second language” in the world. Its unquestioned position as the lingua franca of international business, media, science, education, and politics has spurred millions of people across the globe to learn this once marginal language. The resultant worldwide boom in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) has meant that native English speakers (and non-native speakers with a good grasp of the language) are in demand almost everywhere. Teach English Worldwide is committed to helping you take advantage of these wonderful opportunities.

However, do not assume that simply because you speak English you are ready to pack your bags and start teaching immediately. In fact, the growing popularity of English language instruction has led to more professionalism within the ranks of English teachers. As a result, anyone serious about teaching English overseas usually enrolls in a TESOL Certificate Course or other professional teacher-training program. The dizzying array of these courses currently available can be intimidating, but Teach English Worldwide can assist you – our “TESOL Training Courses” section discusses all of your options and helps you make the best choice based on your individual goals and circumstances.

all place online jobs teaching types

ESL Jobs in Asia & Oceania
Includes: ESL jobs from all of Asia and Oceania. Ads in this category include opportunities to teach English in Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Australia, New Zealand, Micronesia, etc. TEFL positions in South Asian countries (Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, etc.) are also included in this section.
Comment: The Asian TEFL market provides perhaps the most opportunities for those looking to teach English abroad. Teaching English in Japan, Korea, and Taiwan has been lucrative for many years now, and many EFL schools actively seek native speakers looking to teach English overseas. China, of course, is also becoming a hot spot for teaching overseas, and salaries are rising accordingly. Though TEFL jobs in South East Asia, in general, tend to pay less than those in the countries mentioned above, many ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teachers find the tradeoffs worthwhile. Visa restrictions may apply for ESOL teachers looking for positions in Australia and New Zealand. (ESL JOBS top)

ESL Jobs in Eastern & Western Europe
Includes: ESL jobs from Europe. This category includes positions teaching English in both Western Europe (the UK, Ireland, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Portugal, Greece, etc.) and Eastern Europe (Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, etc.). Teaching English opportunities from Turkey are also included here.
Comment: The European TEFL market is as vibrant as ever in both Eastern and Western Europe. As former Soviet Union countries vie for a piece of the world’s economic pie and others, such as Turkey, bid for entry into the European Union, teaching English opportunities abound. In Western Europe, from the tourist mecca of Spain to industrious Germany, learning English is simply a given. While well-paid ESL jobs in the UK and Ireland exist all year round for the highly qualified, entry-level and summer positions are also numerous. Visa restrictions may apply for ESOL teachers in European Union countries. (ESL JOBS top)

ESL Jobs in Latin America
Includes: Opportunities to teach English abroad in Latin America. This category includes all EFL jobs in the geographic region from Mexico to Argentina. Teaching English positions from all South American countries (Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, etc.) as well as teaching overseas opportunities from Central America (Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, etc.). Also included in this category are prospects from “non-Latin” countries in the region such as Haiti or Belize.
Comment: The TEFL market of Latin America is an active one, yet due to cultural forces, it might not to seem that way for an ESL teacher hoping to find a position via the Internet. This situation is changing slowly, however, and ads to teach English abroad in Latin America are increasing all the time. Internet use in the region is building steadily, and with it is sure to come more ESL job opportunities on sites such as this one. (ESL JOBS top)

ESL Jobs in the Mid East & Africa
Includes: ESL jobs in the Middle East, Africa, and Central Asia. This category includes teaching English opportunities from Middle Eastern countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon, Jordan, etc.; North African countries such as Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, etc; and the countries of Sub-Saharan Africa - Kenya, Ethiopia, Senegal, etc. Also included in this section are opportunities to teach English in Central Asia - Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, etc.
Comment: There are some very attractive TEFL opportunities in this area of the world from oil-rich Gulf states such as the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, etc. Of course, close monitoring of political situations is advised. That said, many liken the area to a large, modern city – there are sections to be weary of and others that seem perfectly safe. While salaries outside of the Gulf tend to decrease, many feel local color increases, making the tradeoff a rewarding one. (ESL JOBS top)

ESL Jobs in the U.S. & Canada
Includes: Positions teaching English as a Second Language in the United States and Canada. This section includes opportunities to teach English in all 50 US states and every province of Canada. Positions teaching overseas in US territories are not listed in this category. Opportunities to teach English abroad in Guam, for example, are listed in the Asian section; teaching English in Puerto Rico are found under the Latin American category.
Comment: Opportunities to teach English in both the US and Canada continue to grow steadily as both countries see increased immigration. Both countries offer a wide range of opportunities from grade schools to universities to private institutions. Typically, government sponsored institutions require some form of advanced degree or specialized certification. When the need is immediate, however, these requirements are sometimes waived, though usually temporarily. The promise to pursue certification or an advanced degree is, at times, enough to get a foot in the door. Visa restrictions may apply for non-residents. (ESL JOBS top)

ESL Jobs Worldwide & Online
Includes: Opportunities to teach English via the Internet, opportunities for EFL/ESL content writers and editors, opportunities for web designers and programmers. This section also includes positions from recruiters and chain schools with TEFL positions open in various countries.
Comment: The marriage of the Internet and education is still in its infancy. In fact, at this point it doesn’t look so much like a marriage as it does an engagement. Neither party, however, is going to leave the other at the altar. More and more ESOL websites crop up every day. More and more ESOL students have access to high speed connections. More and more English learners are taking advantage of online education. Self-paced, interactive instruction already has certain advantages over classroom exercises, and though face-to-face instruction will never disappear, bits of it are already migrating to online webcams. Language is a tool for communication, as is the Internet. Their union, while not always perfect, is still a solid one. Growth in this area of ESL is a given. (ESL JOBS top)

Teaching, An Honored Profession

Teaching is a dignified profession, as teachers play a crucial role for the development of students into responsible human being. Aptly termed as nation builders, a career in teaching brings a lot of job satisfaction to candidates. The profession offers a host of career possibilities for candidates. Aspiring candidates can choose to work as elementary school teachers, high school teachers, public school teachers etc. To make a successful career in teaching, you need to equip yourself with all the essential career information including job description, nature of work, working environment, educational qualification and training required to become a teacher.

Job Description
Whether it is the intellectual or the social development of students, the job of a teacher is undoubtedly quite a challenging one. It is through the education provided to students that ensures they become responsible adults for a bright future. Teachers use a variety of tools, techniques and methods for the development of children. Kindergarten, elementary, high school and public school teachers are responsible for coaching, instructing and applying a variety of concepts to teach students subjects including science, social studies, mathematics, art, music, languages etc. Teachers work either in private or public schools. Some of these professionals provide special education.

Whether it is about coaching students or using classroom presentations, teachers have the responsibility to prepare the lesson plan, assign lesions and check the progress of students. They determine the performance and potential of students and use multiple tools and concepts to guide them towards becoming responsible adults. As the need for new assessment methods increases, the demand for trained teachers also increases continuously.

Teachers employed in kindergarten and elementary schools are responsible for the development of students in their early years. It is through the formative years' education that children learn to shape their views which further determines their success in future. These professionals are responsible for introducing children to subjects like mathematics, social studies, languages etc. They use computer games, books, films and artwork to develop children, intellectually and socially.

Middle school and secondary school teachers provide a deeper knowledge of subjects taught in elementary school during the children's formative years. They delve deeper into these subjects and make children aware of more information about the world. Depending on their individual interests, these teachers specialize in teaching specific subjects like mathematics, biology, history etc.

Educational Qualification & Training
Candidates who aspire to become a public school teacher should at least possess a bachelor's degree from a teacher education program. In addition to completing an approved teacher training program, candidates also need to need to fulfill some licensure requirements which may vary from one state to another. Educational qualification to become a pre school teacher may vary from one state to another. Some teaching jobs require students to possess a bachelor's degree in early childhood education. Associate's degrees in teaching, for kick-starting a career in this occupation, are also offered by several institutions.

Private schools usually do not require candidates to fulfill licensing requirements. Those who want to become a secondary school teacher would need a bachelor's degree in specialized subjects like history, mathematics, English, biology etc. A bachelor degree in childhood education is required if you intend to occupy jobs in elementary schools.

Job Skills
Those who want to make a successful career in teaching should also possess some essential job skills, aside from educational qualification. Teachers should possess strong motivational skills, inspirational skills, excellent communication and the capability to comprehend the emotional and educational requirements of students. At the same time, they need to be innovative and respond to cultural differences, as students may belong to different backgrounds.

Employment Facts

The annual median salary for the elementary teacher in the United States as of April 2010, was USD 40,332. Read on for more on elementary school teacher salary.

Apart from this, the elementary teacher also has to monitor the progress of the students, take class tests and give the required feedback to the parents and the students. The elementary teacher also has to look into the counseling of students if any wayward behavior is noticed.

One more thing which the elementary school teacher is in charge of is finding about what are the subjects which the students enjoy, finding out their passions and interests and getting their parents to enroll them for specialized classes for the subjects, so that the student can improve in his field of interest.

How to become an elementary school teacher?

But the allure of online teaching jobs does in fact, demand a bit of research and it can be slow. And while using the Internet can be useful and even fun, it is not the only way to access information.
Research Online Teaching Jobs
One of the major trends in the online teaching workplace is telecommuting. Try targeting online teaching companies and organization using freelance writing boards such as . Since online teaching jobs is a niche based industry, it is a good idea to research the kind of online teaching company and industry you do find, so that ultimately you are a good match.
